Dear Square Dance Friends,

This letter is an introduction and invitation to the BC Square & Round Dance Mini Festival  July 6, 7, & 8, 2017 in Cloverdale, BC, website www.BCFestival2017.squaredance.bc.ca.  As a contact for your club, you are involved in the fun of square dance and a volunteer to help spread that fun to your fellow dancers, so with that in mind we are extending a heartfelt invitation to you to join us in the fun of the next Festival.

Our plans are to provide a fun and friendly atmosphere for dancers from across our region, and neighbouring Provinces and States as well, to meet and enjoy each other’s company in an atmosphere of great square and round dancing.  To this end our enthusiastic committee has already reached and passed the century mark of registrants, and almost at double that number.  We hope you will consider joining the group. Among our registrations are 15 callers and cuers currently, from all parts of BC Province and Washington State as well. Check them all out at our website.

Our venue, Cloverdale, is Surrey, BC’s birthplace that has an authentic historic main street, unique boutique shopping and restaurants, museums, parks, golf courses, family farms to visit, a local casino, great accommodation both on-site and nearby, and an annual rodeo, which provides us with the dance locations for our festival.

Our square dancing will primarily be divided between two halls located at the Cloverdale Rodeo grounds, 6050 - 176 Street, one which features a lovely wood dance floor, and a smaller hall with cement flooring.  The dance levels will be fairly divided between the two halls. A separate facility on site will be offered for round dancing, and boasts a comfortable linoleum floor.

Our festival is easily reached and RV sites will be available both on the dance site and within 15-20 minutes drive.  The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites is located right across the street from the event, with large hotel chains such as Comfort Inn, Pacific Inn, Ramada Inn, and Hampton Inn within a quick drive as well.  Food on site will include snacks, beverages, and light meals, with a number of restaurants within walking distance of the dancing.

Other things you might enjoy doing on your visit could include a trip to the Honeybee Centre nearby, where you can see how important our bees are to our agricultural roots.  Or tour the Surrey Museum on site at the Festival, or the nearby BC Vintage Truck Museum, and take a look at the lumber and trucks needed to haul our forests, and the old-time vehicles that brought produce to market.  There is also the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society, two close-by golf courses, a  Create-It Emporium, and the Elements Casino.  Another fun fact for food buffs is that Cloverdale is home to two top chefs appearing on Top Chef Canada and Masterchef Canada, and was the film location for the TV series “Smallville”.

So we hope you and your square dance friends will check out our website at www.BCFestival2017.squaredance.bc.ca which contains more detailed information on our event, along with a registration form, or phone toll-free to 1-800-335-9433, and we hope you will consider investing some time in considering our event as a great summer vacation in 2017.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Yours truly
